What is Ember Sword?
Ember Sword is a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) backed by the Immutable X blockchain and developed by So Couch Studios. It features a vast open world called Pangea, filled with challenging quests, dangerous enemies, and hidden treasures.
Players can choose their own path and playstyle, whether they prefer to explore the world, engage in PvP battles, or team up with other players to complete epic raids.
Moreover, it introduces play-to-earn mechanics to this fantasy ecosystem. Players can earn valuable in-game assets, such as weapons, armor, and resources, by completing quests and challenges. These assets can then be traded on the blockchain or used to enhance the player’s own character.

Getting started with Ember Sword
While the full version of the game will only launch in 2024, community members get the chance to join playtests occasionally. For instance, in April 2023, Ember Sword hosted an open Alpha playtest available for anyone who wanted to have a taste of what was coming.
Players joined quests involving exploration of the Solarwood realm, including exploration, PvE and PvP combat, crafting, and puzzle-solving.
In the 24 hours before the start of the Alpha Playtest, Ember Sword NFT game assets saw an increase of 440% in sales volume. This indicates that the community got fired up about the new Alpha phase and decided to invest further in the game.
Owning Solarwood Land NFTs grants holders a place in the Ember Sword gaming community and a spot to try out the game when the closed Beta comes.
How to join the next Alpha Playtest
Ember Sword’s next Alpha Playtest will occur from 27 until 29 October. This edition will introduce early players to new weapons and team gameplay. Moreover, you’ll get to join new thrilling boss fights.

What’s unique about Ember Sword?
Ember Sword features traditional MMORPG gameplay mechanics, such as combat, quests, and exploration. However, it also introduces new mechanics that take advantage of the Immutable X blockchain technology.
One of the most interesting mechanics is the play-and-earn system. Players can earn valuable in-game assets by completing quests and challenges, which can then be sold on the marketplace or used to enhance their own character’s performance.

Another unique mechanic is the game’s land system. Players can purchase and customize their own land plots, which can be used as a base of operations, a place to store items or even a source of passive income.
Ember Sword NFTs
In the Ember Sword universe, you’ll get to create and customize your character and own their gear, weapons, and lands. In addition to in-game items being digital assets or NFTs, the Ember Sword world of Pangea also allows players to own pieces of land across its four nations.
Solarwood Land NFTs
First launched in 2021, Ember Sword Land NFTs returned in July 2023 for an Alpha Land Sale. Around 150,000 land plots on the Solarwood realm are unique pieces of virtual real estate that players can purchase, customize, and use to generate passive income. The idea is that players are able to transform their spaces for the community.
Moreover, Solarwood NFTs are divided into four types which give the landowner a specific title and offer different resources and gameplay possibilities. See what you get from each type of land on Ember Sword:
- Regular (1×1): owner gains the title of Sir or Lady and a 1x Per Plot Multiplier for shared ownership rewards in the game.
- Settlement (1×1): owners are Barons or Baronesses, get to build Tier 1 buildings that players can visit, have the ability to give players quests, and gain a 10x Per Plot Multiplier for shared ownership rewards.
- Town (2×2): owning a Town makes holders Earls or Countesses that can build Tier 2 buildings and create quests. It also includes a Premium Shop and enhanced 50x Per Plot Multiplier For Shared Ownership rewards.
- City (4×4): The largest Solarwood lands, City NFTs make owners Dukes or Duchesses that can create Tier 3 buildings, Premium Shops, and issue player quests. City Landowner rewards with 125x Per Plot Multiplier.
How to become a landowner?
The Ember Sword team announced a new Solarwood Alpha Landsale in July 2023. But if you want to own your plot of land on their metaverse, you can’t just buy it. You need to apply first.
Ember Sword introduced an industry-first system for their Land NFT sales this time. People need to apply and wait for approval to be able to purchase their Solarwood lands. According to the team, this measure was due to a higher demand than expected. In order to become a landowner, you must prove you’ll become a valuable community member.

Other Ember Sword collectibles
Ember Sword Lands are just the beginning of the game’s collectibles offerings. The game’s developers have stated that they plan to introduce more collections in the future, including rare weapons and armor sets, mounts, and even special characters.
Unlike many blockchain games, not all in-game assets will be registered on-chain. This demonstrates how Ember Sword developers are careful not to turn it into a play-to-earn-only-centered experience.
The EMBER Token
Ember Sword will also feature its own ecosystem token, the EMBER token. The Ember token will be used as the primary currency within the game’s economy, allowing players to buy and sell items, trade with other players, and participate in game events.
As a cryptocurrency, the EMBER token will be based on blockchain technology and will be tradeable on cryptocurrency exchanges. Players can earn EMBER tokens by completing quests, selling items, and participating in game events – hence play-and-earn.

Ember Sword is continuously under development and has already gone far in building a gaming community still before Beta. According to their whitepaper, the game will fully launch in 2024.
