Layer-1 network with super-fast transactions, cheap gas fees & $50,000 support available

Gaming on the blockchain relies heavily on fast, low-cost transactions to enable a smooth experience for players, and thankfully Oasis Network can deliver this. Unlike DeFi and other dapps, which require possibly only a few transactions to complete an action, games require far more transactions for players to progress. Low costs are essential to success in the category, and Oasis Network is arguably perfectly positioned.

The $500,000 DappRadar x Oasis Accelerator Program’s mission is to find ambitious teams from the DappRadar developer community and support them in building on the Oasis Network.

Oasis Network is scalable and ideal for gaming dapps due to its instant finality, 99% lower gas fees versus Ethereum, high throughput, privacy protection, and defense against MEV. Emerald, the Oasis EVM compatible ParaTime, allows for full EVM compatibility, easy integration with EVM-based dapps, and features a cross-chain bridge to enable cross-chain interoperability.

Choices choices

While traditionally developers eyed Ethereum as a launchpad for dapps, one critical consideration in 2022 for development teams is the costs and speeds involved for users. Simply put, gaming on Ethereum is not sustainable due to gas fees. Players simply won’t part with up to $50 every time they need to complete a minor, potentially valueless transaction.

Projects like Axie Infinity spawned their in-house solution with the Ronin blockchain. However, not all developer’s pockets are as deep or well weathered. Oasis Network offers a solution straight off the shelf and financial support through the $500,000 DappRadar x Oasis Dapp Accelerator Fund

First mover advantage on Oasis

At the time of writing, there are no play-to-earn or GameFi dapps on the Oasis Network. Importantly, this is not a jibe at Oasis; this is a positive factor that means the category is wide open for developers to make their mark. It is also the result of Oasis’s mainnet only being live for a few months and its dapp ecosystem still developing. Again, not a negative point as it means room for innovation is vast on Oasis Network.

We’ve seen blockchain games rise to dominate the blockchains they chose to run on in these last 12 months. DeFi Kingdoms is a prime example of a dapp that’s found real traction on a network away from Ethereum. By leveraging its first-mover advantage, DeFi Kingdoms holds more than 60% of the total value locked on Harmony, a feat that could be potentially replicated on Oasis Network.

Fast transactions & low costs

Transactions on Oasis reach finality in a matter of seconds while gas fees are about $0.15, a figure far more in line with current financial payment system fees such as Visa and Mastercard. Moreover, a far cry from Ethereum, where fees reached as high as $100 in 2022. Moreover, even with the arrival of ETH 2.0, gas fees won’t reduce massively, so developers still need to look elsewhere.

To further highlight the point about fast and cheap transactions being vital to a blockchain game, the number of transactions completed by users of Harmony’s leading GameFi dapp DeFi Kingdoms is below. In the last seven days, it processed 2.1 million transactions, while ViperSwap, the network’s leading DEX, processed just 8,000 in that timeframe.

Future Security

If the digital space is to mirror the physical one day, users will need all the security features they rely on in the real world.  Oasis is the first network to support confidential smart contracts. The Oasis Eth/WASI Runtime is an open-source example of a confidential ParaTime that uses secure enclaves to keep data private while being processed. Oasis believes this feature will become paramount to the success of gaming and metaverse dapps moving forward.

If users are to exist in virtual worlds, they will need to throw up safety nets around themselves and their digital items. Additionally, they will need to hide or keep certain aspects of their assets secret to avoid being targeted by bad actors.

Oasis has several exciting projects building on the network, including the CryptoSafe Alliance with Binance, Nebula Genomics, Genetica, BMW, and more. Alongside its rapidly growing ecosystem of partners, Oasis represents a solid choice for dapp developers looking to build Play-to-Earn gaming and GameFi dapps with privacy solutions.

50,000 more reasons

The $500,000 DappRadar x Oasis accelerator program is now live and taking applicants. Ten successful projects will be chosen and supported with $50,000 in ROSE and marketing and business development support to make sure the project stays on track.  We invite developers with projects already underway and solid ideas to apply for the funding and support available through the accelerator program.
