Gaming boosts activity on the Wax blockchain to new heights

While Wax still offers a wide range of branded NFT collections, we’ve seen lots of growth with the rise of play-to-earn gaming. Volume on the Wax blockchain increased from $3 million per day in September to an average of more than $10 million per day in October so far.

With Alien Worlds and R-Planet the Wax gaming ecosystem has two widely recognized projects on the market. Despite seeing a 26% drop over the past 30 days, Alien Worlds still attract more than 707.000 unique active wallets. Both R-Planet and Prospectors have seen a similar drop in active wallets, bringing their 30-day UAW to 23.720 and 8850 respectively.

However, behind the behemoth called Alien Worlds, there’s a next generation of NFT-powered games rising, led by the farming game Farmers World. This dapp already attracted 67.530 wallets over 30 days, up 161% during that time frame. In a similar fashion, the Discord RPG Journey to Godhood grew its user base 132% to 6150 UAW, while Nova Rally and Coin Pirates both saw their communities grow as well.

What we’re seeing here, is users showing increased preference for NFT-powered games with actual active gameplay mechanics. Players who want to build a farm, can do so in Farmers World. Those who want to sail the seven seas in search for loot and plunder, can find their treasures in Coin Pirates. We’re entering a phase where NFT-powered games become more than just idle clickers.

Play-to-earn gaming on the rise

Over the past 12 months, blockchain-powered gaming has seen a tremendous increase of interest. In the first week of the year, 208.000 wallets interacted with gaming-related smart contracts across all blockchains, and this number increased to 8.13 million last week. Axie Infinity, Splinterlands, CryptoBlades, and of course Alien Worlds on the Wax blockchain have all contributed to this boost.

During the third quarter of the year, gaming was responsible for 49% of the 1.54 million daily unique active wallets. Even though the dominance of Wax within this ecosystem dropped, the blockchain saw its number of unique active wallets increase 53% over the past quarter. With Alien Worlds and Farmers World the Wax blockchain offers two GameFi products that are on the top of the market.
