Ubisoft & Animoca Behind Play-to-Earn Game Rebel Bots

Rebel Bots is a Polygon-based card battle game with play-to-earn mechanics

Rebel Bots, a play-to-earn game on the Polygon blockchain, closed a $2 million private token sale with Animoca Brands, Ubisoft, and Overwolf. Last year, the game issued 10,000 unique non-fungible token (NFT) avatars with revenue-generating features. Another type of in-game NFTs called Fighting Bots serve as soldiers to battle against other players.

This successful funding round comes a few months after the Rebel Bots NFT collection sale in August. It further empowers the team to build an engaged community and in-game ecosystem. Having backing from blockchain gaming behemoth Animoca Brands and gaming giant Ubisoft solidifies the potential of Rebel Bots to become a success.

Rebel Bots is a skill-based, sci-fi-themed card battle game with both PvE mode and PvP mode available. In August 2021, the team released 10,000 Rebel Bots NFT avatars and they were sold out quickly. These Rebel Bots NFTs, also known as the Kingdom Lords, are the most valuable NFTs in the game. What makes Kingdom Lords so special is that they are the rulers of the kingdoms. The Rebel Bot avatar will be used as the kingdom’s banner. For every player who joins the game, they will fight under a certain kingdom banner. Most importantly, owning a Rebel Bots NFT allows you to receive a revenue share from the game economy.

Rebel Bots gameplay explained

The first Rebel Bots title, Xoil Wars, offers a card battle game with play-to-earn mechanics. Built with Unity, the game aims to launch on both web and mobile platforms before the end of June, 2022. The core gameplay of Rebel Bots is a turn-based semi-automatic card battle. It is inspired by the successful gameplay mechanics created by games such as Hearthstone, Magic The Gathering, and games such as Clash Royale.

In the game, players will be able to play, progress, and earn in a single-player mode (PvE) or multiplayer mode (PvP). The game will require players to unite around different kingdoms, build their army and compete with other players for the valuable Xoil resource. The in-game resource is critical since it allows players to build new, more advanced robotic soldier NFTs, and evolve their battle strategies to rank higher on leaderboards for season prizes.

As mentioned, Rebel Bots NFTs (the Kingdom Lords) are only avatars. Then who will fight for your kingdoms? Here come the Fighting Bots, another important type of NFT in the game. In order to fight against other players, you will need to build and assemble a team of fighting bots. You can buy Fighting bots on the marketplace or build them using game resources, including Xoil and RBLS token.

What are RBLS Tokens

The team will issue RBLS token with a maximum supply of 300 million tokens. It is the governance token of Rebel Bots gaming universe designed to grant voting rights in the future Rebel Bots DAO. Furthermore, the RBLS tokens have in-game utilities and players can trade these on exchanges.

The token sale process will go through 3 phases:

  • PHASE 1: Community Sale for Rebel Bot holders;
  • PHASE 2: Gatio.io Token Sale;
  • PHASE 3: General Public Sale via a decentralized swap service available on the Rebel Bots website.

The team behind Rebel Bots has years of experience in developing mobile social games. With this investment, the team made one step closer to their goals of becoming one of the biggest names in the rapidly growing play-to-earn industry.
