The new neighborhood will be introduced on January 13th
The Sandbox, one of the most popular virtual worlds at the moment, has announced that a new neighborhood called Mega City will launch on January 13th. According to the official announcement, the new region will be a space for multiple partners from Hong Kong. These include stars from the film, music, entertainment, acting, finance, real estate, and gaming sectors.
The new Mega City neighborhood in The Sandbox will consist of numerous plots with varying sizes and prices. In order to participate in the sale, gamers and investors will need SAND tokens to buy the land and ETH to cover the gas fees for their purchase.
Among the partners that have already pledged to build experiences in the Mega City region, we find names like entrepreneur Adrian Cheng. Additionally, The Sandbox attracted entertainment stars Stephen Fung and Shu Qi.
In addition to grabbing a premium piece of land in the metaverse, these plots also come with numerous NFT rewards. Premium land plots will offer one of six additional NFTs. These can range from a depiction of Stephen Fung and Shu Qi’s cat to a Gummy Villain NFT avatar.
Demand for The Sandbox land surges
According to a recent DappRadar breakdown of the landscape of virtual worlds at the moment, the Sandbox is one of the hottest spaces in the metaverse right now. Demand for virtual land on the platform is increasing steadily, with plots selling for exorbitant amounts. For example, in November, a land plot located next to Atari’s estate sold for 44 ETH, or about $191.190. You can check out some other impressive land plot sales below.
As interest in virtual world land continues to grow, it is only expected that platforms like The Sandbox will continue offering plots for sale. This process is inevitable, as more and more people want to own a piece of the metaverse.
