Stacks enables dapps and smart contracts for Bitcoin
DappRadar is excited to announce the integration of the Stacks blockchain and its ecosystem of dapps. DappRadar’s 1 million monthly site visitors can now analyze which dapps attract the most trading volume, unique user wallets, or process the most transactions through the Stacks dapp rankings. This way, everybody can understand which dapps and tokens build solid communities and value on Stacks.
Stacks 2.0 is a layer-1 blockchain that connects to Bitcoin and brings smart contracts and decentralized apps. Smart contracts and dapps developed on the Stacks platform are natively integrated with the security, stability, and economic power of Bitcoin.
The Stacks blockchain implements a mining mechanism called Proof of Transfer (PoX). PoX is a consensus algorithm between two blockchains. It uses an established blockchain, in this case, Bitcoin, to secure a new blockchain – Stacks. PoX connects to Bitcoin with a 1:1 block ratio, meaning anything that happens on the Stacks blockchain can be verified on the Bitcoin Blockchain. Instead of burning electricity on proof of work, PoX reuses already minted bitcoins as “proof of computation,” and miners directly represent their cost of mining in bitcoins.
Stacks Dapp Rankings on DappRadar
At launch, DappRadar will track seven dapps on the Stacks Network across several categories, including DeFi and Exchanges, NFT collections, and marketplaces, with more dapps to come in the future. ALEX (Automated Liquidity Exchange) is a complete DeFi platform built for Bitcoin using Stacks smart contracts. ALEX lets investors launch new projects, earn interest, and swap tokens. Users can also discover and participate in the IDO rounds of emerging Stacks projects through the launchpad and earn returns by providing liquidity.
