The rapper bought a BAYC NFT for close to half a million dollars
Multi-award-winning rapper Eminem has made his entry into the world of NFTs with a new Bored Ape Yacht Club profile picture on Twitter. He bought the BAYC NFT for 123.45 ETH, which at the time of the purchase was worth about $463,099.
As has become customary in the celebrity space, Eminem did not publish an official announcement but simply changed his avatar to the new BAYC #9055. This is the latest in a series of celebrity endorsements for the Bored Apes. The collection has become a staple in the NFT space, attracting thousands in daily trading volume. Celebrities are picking up on this status, and BAYC is becoming a sort of initiation ceremony for VIPs that are just starting in the NFT space.
A quick browse around Eminem’s wallet reveals that he currently owns more than 300 NFTs. At the time of writing, his portfolio is worth $288.600. BAYC #9055 is the most expensive purchase in the wallet. However, it seems Eminem is stacking up ape-themed NFTs with a Superlative Ape and a Cool Ape in his collection. These were directly transferred to his wallet as gifts from fans and supporters, Eminem’s collection is steadily growing.
Bored Ape Yacht Club pushes to beat competitors
With yet another celebrity joining the BAYC community, the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection is now among the most sought-after NFT projects out there. Last month it managed to briefly tie and surpass the floor price of a CryptoPunk, which was an essential landmark in BAYC’s success story. Currently, the floor price for an Ape is 74 ETH, or about $281.694 which is higher than the 67.99 ETH floor price of CryptoPunks.
According to DappRadar data, Bored Ape Yacht Club has generated $159.9 million in trading volume in the past month while attracting close to a thousand unique traders. In the past seven days alone, the collection boosted its trading volume by 153% thanks to some impressive sales. A Mega Mutant Serum NFT sold for 888 ETH or $3.6 million last week, while another one switched owners for 1542 ETH, or $5.79 million in the past 24 hours.
As BAYC continues its push for the top, more celebrities join the community. Impressively, a lot of the music industry is joining the NFT hype through BAYC. With big names like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Timbaland, rappers are now taking over the NFT space.
DappRadar will continue monitoring BAYC’s push for the top as even more celebrities join the community.
