Will Star Girl’s one million monthly active users go with the Flow?
Animoca Brands and Dapper Labs Inc, the company developing the new Flow blockchain, announced today that Animoca Brands will bring its mobile game franchise Star Girl (one million monthly active users) and the upcoming blockchain game based on MotoGP™ to the Flow blockchain as part of significant expansion plans by both companies.
Flow is a next-generation blockchain being developed to deliver optimized gaming and entertainment experiences. Besides providing the stability and scalability necessary for blockchain products to support mass-market adoption, Flow also provides payment rails for credit cards and cryptocurrency for consumers to use with ease.
Animoca Brands believes that Flow offers a powerful solution for handling the computation and transaction throughput necessary for mainstream adoption of blockchain gaming while remaining user and developer-friendly.
Will Star Girl users go with the flow?
The Star Girl franchise is a successful series of mobile fashion role-playing games, published by Animoca Brands, that are popular with a global female audience and account for one million monthly active users and 180,000 daily active users.
Star Girl is expected to launch on Flow starting in 2021.
MotoGP
Animoca Brands is developing the officially licensed blockchain-based game for MotoGP, the oldest motorsports championship in the world, featuring the fastest riders and the most technologically advanced prototype racing motorcycles on the planet.
The initial features of the game are expected to be available in Q4 2020 with a commercial release in 2021.
The MotoGP game will be on Flow and will support the REVV token, the recently launched ERC-20 token that serves as the primary utility token in motorsport games developed by Animoca Brands.
Promising roadmap
Animoca Brands and Dapper Labs are collaborating to onboard a number of other Animoca Brands projects to the Flow blockchain, including F1® Delta Time, the official blockchain game licensed by Formula 1®, and the REVV token.
Flow, in partnership with CDOT, is building a two-way NFT bridge between Ethereum and Flow. This will allow products such as MotoGP and REVV to take advantage of the liquidity existing on Ethereum while being able to benefit from the low computation transaction fees, high throughput, and mainstream on-ramps of Flow.
Mik Naayem, Chief Business Officer at Dapper Labs, commented: “Animoca Brands has been an incredible supporter of NFTs and decentralized games since 2017. We share a mutual vision and approach to creating mainstream adoption of decentralized games in an inclusive manner. With this partnership, we are one step closer to making this a reality. We are excited to welcome and support the vibrant REVV and Star Girl communities to Flow.”
Truly exciting times ahead as we start to see a host of proper games enter the blockchain gaming world after a somewhat quiet year in the space.
Furthermore, the introduction of a blockchain game primarily foucessed on a female audience will be something of a first in the space. It will be fascinating to gauge what impact these developments have on the overall adoption of blockchain games in the near future.
