In 1951 Topps created the first modern-day sports trading card set and has continued to set the standard for quality and innovation to the present day.

Fast-forward to 2020. Topps can boast franchises such as Star Wars, Major League Baseball, WWE and the Garbage Pail Kids. This partnership deal will see Topps make their vast licensing portfolio available to users of the WAX blockchain.
Topps chose the WAX Blockchain to create, buy, sell, and trade virtual items to anyone, anywhere in the world. This was partly due to the fact that since 2017 WAX has facilitated the trade of more than $100 million in digital items and has a strong focus on user-friendliness.
Garbage Pail Kids coming to WAX!
Garbage Pail Kids trading cards will be the first franchise to feature. The first trading cards will launch in the spring of 2020. Available to buy through FIAT credit card and WAX Cloud Wallet payment methods.

Each Garbage Pail Kids card is a unique digital card. Collectors will be able to buy, sell, trade and store their Garbage Pail Kids blockchain collections on a dedicated Topps platform. Using blockchain to authenticate each card and its content. Every Garbage Pail Kids card on the platform will retain a unique code that will ensure its authenticity.
In the physical world. Topps trading cards have regularly sold in secondary markets for hundreds of thousands of dollars. One very important feature allowed by blockchain is for buyers and sellers to guarantee the Topps cards are authentic, and that trades are secured.

Mass adoption
The number of dapps currently available (3,062 at the time of writing) shows that the key challenge of the blockchain dapp ecosystem hasn’t been creating dapps. The issue has predominantly been onboarding users.
