Two proposals to increase the fees for anyone using the TRON blockchain 4x have been passed.
Proposal #47 increases the fee of 1 energy unit to 0.00004 TRX, while #48 increases the fee of 1 bandwidth unit to 0.00004 TRX.
Previously both units were valued at 0.00001 TRX.
Justin Sun tweeted that the result would be a more stable network as dapp developers will be forced to freeze more TRX.
Given 1 TRX is currently worth $0.036, the additional costs will likely remain small for most individual users. Justin Sun claimed TRON would remain the lowest cost public chain.
However, some developers of popular TRON dapps are already experiencing the impact.
DEX TronTrade tweeted that it can’t now cover the costs for users placing orders as it previously did. It’s now passing on the cost to users who will have to freeze a larger amount of TRX, as well as paying transaction fees. It currently has around 7,000 monthly active unique wallets.
DappRadar will be keeping track of whether the changes result in a drop in activity across TRON’s dapps as developers react to the new environment.
