Rapper Nas Lets Fans Earn Streaming Royalties through NFTs

Nas partnered with Royal to offer the royalty rights to two of his songs as NFTs

World-famous rapper and crypto early adopter Nas has announced a partnership with NFT platform Royal, which will allow his fans to purchase NFTs giving them royalties earnings on song streaming. The rapper has selected two songs, to be released as limited edition NFTs. Each NFT entitles the owners to a percentage of the royalty profits Nas takes from streaming platforms.

The first song launching as a ‘limited digital asset’ (LDA) is “Ultra Black.” It is part of the “King’s Disease II” album. There will be 760 NFTs minted for “Ultra Black.” The second song on Royal is “Rare,” which will drop as 1110 tokens. Both NFTs will become available on January 11th. Importantly, collectors and fans will have to be quick on their keyboards, as availability is scarce, and there will be no whitelist or reserved spots.

Still Royal has launched a giveaway contest on Twitter. It will allow six lucky winners to enjoy a free platinum edition of one of the two NFTs. There has not been a confirmation regarding the royalty rates yet. However, it is expected that the rarer the NFT, the higher the royalty percentage will be.

Nas teams up with 3LAU’s Royal

Interestingly, this NFT release can easily be dubbed a collaboration. NFT fan and musician 3LAU created Royal. 3LAU has an extensive portfolio of NFTs, and you can check out his whole collection with the DappRadar Portfolio Tracker.

Royal has not yet made it to the headlines. However, it is an essential first step towards merging the mainstream music industry and the NFT space. Allowing fans to profit from their love for music is a lucrative opportunity, which seamlessly integrated blockchain technology.

Nas is not the only musician who has recognized the potential behind Royal. According to a recent tweet, Royal has received investments from other big names like The Chainsmokers and Kygo. Additionally, Coinbase has also set its sights on the platform and betting on it to be a solid investment choice.

DappRadar will continue monitoring 3LAU and Royal and the music industry’s involvement with the NFT space. If you want to get access to the most up-to-date NFT sales data and news, check out DappRadar PRO. PRO also gives you a pass to participate in exclusive Discord channels and discussions.
