They move markets, you can move assets on DappRadar
Analysis of several blockchain wallets owned by rap moguls, musicians, and celebrities has revealed that while some are looking at NFTs as a fun experiment, others are going all in. The recently refreshed, free-to-use DappRadar portfolio and NFT valuator tools help reveal a fascinating insight into what NFTs celebrities are aping into. More importantly perhaps, showing us how the NFT assets are performing and whether they increased in value.
Musicians have been especially active when it comes to the creation and holding of NFTs. World-renowned rap mogul Jay Z, for example, is holding just over half a million dollars worth of NFTs in his wallet across 26 collectibles. Including CryptoPunk #6095 which makes up 99% of the portfolio value with an estimated value of $515 thousand. Additionally, Jay Z holds a Wicked Craniums NFT that he got for around $190 which is now, according to the DappRadar NFT Valuator tool worth over $1400.
Most importantly, alongside your own wallet holdings, the renewed DappRadar Portfolio Tracker has all this information under one roof.
Another rap mogul with an interesting NFT collection is JaRule. The rapper hit the headlines a few times over the last few years. Firstly with his failed FYRE festival, and secondly when he reportedly sold a one-off painting created during the planning stages of the festival as an NFT asset. His collection is more modest than Jay’s. Rather than one high-value item surrounded by low-value ones, the rap mogul, appears to be taking a more cultured approach. JaRule has 220 individual NFTs across 75 collections stored in this wallet with a total value of just shy of $42,000. The most valuable, a World of Women NFT purchased for just $209 that is now worth an estimated $5,100.
Moreover, JaRule seems to be aping into a lot of the newer NFT collections. But on the flip side of that, it’s quite difficult to ascertain whether he has bought or been gifted these NFTs, without looking through all 220. The ones I did double-check all had sales history. Leading me to believe JaRule in fact purchased most if not all his NFTs.
Amongst his collectibles are Fang Gang, Blockchain Bikers, and Bulls on the Block. Which all arrived in the last month. Is JaRule speculating on NFTs? It certainly looks that way. Interestingly, as with Jay-Z’s wallet, we see just a few cryptocurrency assets. Just ETH and WETH for JaRule, to the tune of around $6k. Leading us to further speculate about whether artists and musicians see NFTs and digital collectibles as a more mainstream, and perhaps acceptable way to be involved in the blockchain sector.
Mike Tyson and his heavyweight NFT collection
Mike Tyson is not a rap mogul but is certainly another celebrity diving headfirst into NFTs. The former heavyweight champion of the world and savvy businessman has an NFT collection worth over $40k in this wallet. The jewel in the crown being CoolCat #2734 with an estimated value of over $20,000 with a last known sale price of just under $5,000. Interestingly, Mike uses the image as his Twitter avatar.
Digging through his 546 individual NFTs across 72 collections reveals that Mike is into crypto art more than he’s into collectibles. With items such as El Salvador Card#1 that may in the future become a legendary NFT given the country’s decision to adopt BTC as legal tender. We already see the last sale price as $325 and that Mike is trying to sell it at around $888.
