The MutantBatz functionality will allegedly drop on February 20th
CyptoBatz is an NFT collection by rock star Ozzy Osbourne, which will soon introduce an interesting new mechanic in the form of MutantBatz. According to the official website, the MutantBatz collection will be a collaborative project between CryptoBatz and several other popular NFT collections.
All original CryptoBatz NFTs have the ability to ‘bite’ an NFT from another blue chip collection one time. When a collector takes advantage of this ability, they get to choose an NFT from another collection which their bat will bite. Once bitten, the resulting mutant NFT will carry traits both from the original CryptoBatz, and from the second NFT.
Importantly, in order for a CryptoBatz to bite an NFT from another collection and create a MutantBat, both NFTs have to be stored in the same wallet. For the moment, CryptoBatz has announced mutant support for the following collections:
What are CryptoBatz?
CryptoBatz is an Ethereum-based NFT collection of 9,666 nocturnal animals creatively directed by Ozzy Osbourne and built by Sutter Systems. The collection launched towards the end of January 2022, and is now entering the second stage of its roadmap.
Since its launch, the collection has attracted more than 8600 traders, generating upwards of $40.8 million in trading volume. At the time of writing, the floor price for a CryptoBatz NFT circles around 1.2 ETH, or about $4000.
Considering Ozzy Osbourne’s involvement with the project’s design, the collection has quickly climbed DappRadar rankings. It is the 21st most traded collection for the past 30 days, which is an impressive achievement.
Now that the rock star has announced the commencement of phase two and the launch of MutantBatz, activity for the collection will probably spike even further.
DappRadar will continue monitoring the CryptoBatz collection as holders move to mutate their NFTs. Importantly, this is an unprecedented mutation mechanism in the NFT space that has the potential to bring unexpected and exciting combinations. What’s more, it will be interesting to see how this mechanic affects the valuation of the original collection. Will the floor price of CryptoBatz skyrocket? How expensive will NFTs that haven’t ‘bitten’ anyone yet be in a month?
