Bored Ape Yacht Club #8585 sold for $2.68 million
Mutant Ape Yacht Club holders will be rewarded for their NFTs with an exclusive merch drop organized by Yuga Labs on 22nd October. As a subsequent collection resulting from a Bored Ape Yacht Club mutation, MAYC are the perfect Halloween characters. Consequently, the exclusive merch drop is conveniently scheduled a week before October 31st. This means holders will be able to claim their merch items before Halloween.
In an official Discord announcement, Bored Ape Yacht Club devs stated that they wanted to recognize the MAYC community by organizing an exclusive event for them. The merch drop also takes the whole BAYC ecosystem one step closer to the recently announced Ape Fest.
The exclusive Mutant Ape Yacht Club merch drop will offer holders access to several items. T-shirts, hoodies, beanies, and a limited number of skateboard decks are just part of the merchandise that’s going to be available.
In order to claim an exclusive MAYC merch item, holders will need to verify themselves. Logging on the official Bored Ape Yacht Club website with the wallet storing their MAYC NFTs is the first step. Once logged in, collectors will receive a one-time password. This password will then give them access to the merch store. There they’ll be able to purchase items with fiat or crypto.
Following the exclusive merch announcement, activity for the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection spiked. Traders interacting with the collection in the past 24 hours jumped 44%. The average sale price went up more than 11% to over $16.800. Additionally, trading volume for the collection rose almost 80% to more than $1.15 million.
Mutant Ape Yacht Club steals the spotlight, BAYC attracts big money
Undeniably, the exclusive merch drop announcement turned all eyes towards Mutant Ape Yacht Club. However, it’s predecessor, Bored Ape Yacht Club, is not one to give up easily. The collection attracted monstrous sales in the past 24 hours.
While activity for MAYC is skyrocketing in preparation for the merch drop, Bored Ape Yacht Club #8585 switched owners for 696.96 ETH last night. The fiat value of this purchase at the time was a stunning $2.69 million. BAYC #8585 is among the rarest NFTs in the collection, which explains its exorbitant sale price to an extent. With a king’s crown and trippy fur, both of which have a rarity score of 0.77%, BAYC #8585 is a top grosser for the collection. The seller purchased this NFT for 397 ETH about two months ago. This means he essentially doubled his investment with the sale last night.
Interestingly, the new owner of BAYC #8585 does not have an extensive NFT collection. What is more impressive however is that four out of five NFTs in the wallet belong to prominent collections. The wallet owner stores 2 CryptoPunks in this address, as well as an Art Blocks Fidenza piece.
Having in mind the stellar performance Bored Ape Yacht Club has seen since the launch of the collection, $2.69 million might even seem like a steal. Additionally, while Mutant Ape Yacht Club is on the rise, BAYC remains the most sought after collection of recent months.
In the past 24 hours alone, the trading volume for Bored Ape Yacht Club has jumped 140% to more than $5.35 million. The sale of BAYC #8585 combined with several other sales of upwards of 75 ETH had a significant effect on the collection’s stats. Additionally, the floor price for a BAYC NFT jumped 21% to more than $138.620.
