Improved Cloud Wallet, Sidechains and EVM-support to Supercharge WAX

WAX Sidechains Cloud Wallet EVM Support blockchain V2

Removing friction for users, adding support for other chains and scaling the WAX ecosystem itself

Worldwide Asset Exchange, better known as WAX, is introducing and developing features to improve the user experience and increase scalability for the core network. To create growth, the network is working on sidechains.

WAX has been among the most active blockchain networks, with the highest number of dapp transactions. Moreover, the network’s throughput is just behind Solana, processing 40 to 50 million weekly transactions.

Currently, WAX has over 160,000 active wallets per day, while processing over 5.8 million dapp transactions daily. With Alien Words, WAX has one of the most active gaming dapps on the market, and it also keeps innovating with new features and developments. At the same time, WUFFI is making waves, attracting the memecoin audience.

CTO Lukas Sliwka shared the latest developments about WAX in an X Spaces, discussing key updates, insights, and future features. By introducing sidechains, applications can run in their own environment without putting too much work on the core network.

In addition, Cloud Wallet will make user account creation and management easier and cheaper. Ultimately, the goal is to remove any friction for new users. Furthermore, WAX wants to add optional EVM support to the sidechains, allowing the WAX community to interact with Ethereum-based dapps.

Sidechains to Scale and Meet Demand

WAX is currently testing sidechains through Cloud Wallet on their testnet. However, down the line, this feature, of course, needs to come to the WAX mainnet. Sidechains will allow WAX to scale horizontally, allowing more applications to run simultaneously while not putting any stress on the core chain.

Lukas sees this development as ‘crucial’. Deploying apps on sidechains will not impact the speed of the WAX mainnet. This is very important because of the transaction-heavy dapps running on WAX. Take, for example, Alien Words, which has over 300,000 wallets interacting with the dapp hundreds of times per week. Or see Thrive on Mars, which registers an average of 46 transactions per wallet, per week. You find some of the top gaming dapps in the Rankings on DappRadar.

With sidechains, developers can even build app-specific chains, making them more customizable and efficient for specific use cases.

User Experience to Improve for Cloud Wallet

WAX is working to make Cloud Wallet more user-friendly and powerful. Not only will making a wallet be frictionless, but Cloud Wallet will also gain more functionality. Think about a bridge to move WUFFI tokens from WAX to TON. The team is also working to make the bridge work for NFTs, allowing users to move their assets between WAX, Solana, Base and eventually TON as well.

Even more important, Cloud Wallet will expand to mobile devices. This will make signing transactions on mobile dapps a lot easier.

Bot activity is an issue across many online games, and WAX wants to combat this development with AI-driven tools. Cloud Wallet uses AI to analyze wallets and detect suspicious accounts. Game developers can use this ‘Bot Score’ to filter out bots and preserve a fair game experience for everybody.

Preparing for the next crypto hype cycle

Compared with the previous bull run, meme coins, AI, and staking projects now lead the charge, according to Sliwka. WAX adapts to the needs of the community, and has the following planned:

  • Supporting meme coins on WAX, starting with the WUF token
  • Encouraging developers to utilize AI in their dapps
  • Connecting WAX to more blockchain ecosystems

WAX enhances its utility by enabling users to interact with assets across chains. It makes it easier for people to bring liquidity and assets from other networks into the WAX ecosystem. Sliwka said that data shows that bridges haven’t led to user loss, but instead brought more people into the WAX community.

Integrating TON is an example of this. With the WAX-TON Bridge, users can seamlessly transfer assets between WAX and TON. A massive, Web3-savvy user base can now easily access WAX, opening the doors to a whole new audience.

Closing words

While WAX still focuses on NFTs and gaming, the ecosystem is expanding into meme coins and AI. Combine this broader scope with more scalability and an improved user experience, then WAX could be paving the way for even bigger success down the road.
