The easy guide for cross-chain token swapping
With the abundance of different blockchains and tokens, we see today, you might feel like it’s difficult to switch around between various assets. Do not be discouraged, on the contrary, thanks to DeFi solutions and exchanges, it is now easier than ever to switch around different blockchains and tokens.
In this guide, you will learn how to quickly and easily swap around your assets from Ethereum to the Binance Smart Chain, and then to Polygon. Before we start, use DappRadar’s Token Swap to exchange the tokens you need. Keep in mind that this is not the only combination of different blockchains you can swap assets between. Let’s get into it.
What are you trying to do?
- Move assets from Ethereum to Binance Smart Chain
- Move assets from BSC to Polygon
- Move assets from Ethereum to Polygon
How to move assets from Ethereum to BSC
Below you can find detailed instructions on how to move assets from the Ethereum mainnet to Binance Smart Chain.
- Log in your Metamask account.
- This is where your assets will be stored. Metamask is one of the most widely used crypto wallets, and it is supported by most bridges and exchanges.
- Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account.
- For this example, we are starting with funds on the Ethereum network, so any ERC-20 token will do. You will need some ETH or BNB to pay for gas fees.
- Find a cross-chain bridge.
- In order to move funds to the Binance Smart Chain, you will need to find a cross-chain bridge. For this example, we are going to use Binance Bridge. You can choose any other cross-chain bridge of your choice.
- Connect your Metamask wallet with Binance Bridge.
- Select the asset you would like to move.
- This can be any ERC-20 token, for example, USDC
- Next up you need to select the chain you want to move the assets to. In this case, we will move the tokens from Ethereum to Binance Smart Chain.
- Select the amount of funds you wish to transfer.
- Once you’ve selected all of the above, you are ready to start moving your assets. Confirm the transaction, and follow the next steps.
- After you’ve confirmed the transaction, your assets will be moved to a temporary wallet address where they will be mapped.
- Once your assets are mapped, they will be transferred to your private Binance Smart Chain wallet.
In ten simple steps, you can easily transfer funds across chains thanks to the services of a cross-chain bridge.
How to move assets from BSC to Polygon
The Polygon network is attracting a lot of attention lately, as it offers significantly lower transaction fees. As a sidechain solution, Polygon is pioneering a new age of blockchain protocols. Especially in the DeFi segment, Polygon is growing its stronghold. As a result yield farmers that are also active on Binance Smart Chain, want to move over.
Moving assets from Binance Smart Chain to Polygon is very similar to the process we described above. However, it is important to note that not all cross-chain bridges support Polygon swaps at the moment. One good example is xPolinate. It allows you to choose between several different networks and multiple assets.
- As before, the first step is to log in or create a Metamask account.
- Metamask is one of the most widely used crypto wallets, and it is supported by most bridges and exchanges.
- Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account.
- For this example, we are starting with funds on the Binance Smart Chain, so any BEP-20 token will do. You will need some BNB to pay for gas fees.
- Find a cross-chain bridge
- For this example, we are going to use xPollinate. You can choose any other cross-chain bridge that supports this swap.
- Connect your Metamask wallet with xPollinate.
- Select the asset you would like to move. This can be any BEP-20 token, for example, USDT
- Next up you need to select the chain you want to move the assets to. In this case, we will move the tokens from Binance Smart Chain to Polygon.
Keep in mind that transactions may take some time to process, but this is completely normal, especially during busy times on the blockchains.
How to move assets from Ethereum to Polygon
Thanks to the wide variety of different cross-chain bridges available, you can easily shift funds from the Ethereum blockchain to Polygon. Because of the growing demand for such services, Polygon decided to create a cross-chain bridge themselves, and this is what we will use for our guide.
- Log in or create a Metamask account.
- This is the place where your assets will be stored. Metamask is one of the most widely used crypto wallets, and it is supported by most bridges and exchanges.
- Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account.
- For this example, we are starting with funds on the Ethereum network, so any ERC-20 token will do. You will need some ETH to pay for gas fees.
- Connect your Metamask wallet with Polygon Bridge.
- Select the asset you would like to move. This can be any ERC-20 token, for example, USDC, or ETH itself.
- After choosing the token you wish to swap, select the amount of funds you want to transfer.
- Once you’ve selected all of the above, you are ready to start moving your assets. Confirm the transaction, and follow the next steps.
- Your assets will be moved to a temporary wallet address where they will be mapped, after you’ve confirmed the transaction.
- Once your assets are mapped, they will be transferred to your private Binance Smart Chain wallet.
- After you’ve confirmed the transaction, your assets will be moved to a temporary wallet address where they will be mapped.
- Once your assets are mapped, they will be transferred to your private Polygon Matic wallet.
As you can see, moving assets across chains is easy thanks to cross-chain bridges. This guide serves as a useful help for those who are dipping their toes into the water.
Regardless of the network you are using at the moment, you can easily move around your tokens and find better gas fee prices, or faster transaction speed processing on different blockchains. Thanks to dapps and blockchain technology, users can move their value around freely.
