NFT collection enjoys a boost of activity after celebrity was outed
Ring-bearer and former Shire-resident Elijah Wood joined the DeadFellaz community, and caused some considerable hype that pushed the floor price up. After Wood joined the community trading activity increased 20% while the price of the cheapest DeadFellaz NFT went up from 1.15 to 1.4 ETH.
Elijah Wood is the latest addition to the list of celebrities who have joined the NFT hype. On September 28th, news that Wood holds a DeadFellaz NFT made it to Twitter, and the community went crazy.
The Lord Of The Rings superstar is now the proud holder of DeadFellaz #9821, who has a charcoal puffer and a nose ring. Aside from his new NFT, Elijah Wood owns two other DeadFellaz, bringing the total value of his DeadFellaz holdings close to $10,000 according to the DappRadar Portfolio Tracker.
Elijah Wood has a total of 8 NFTs in his portfolio. Interestingly, a quick check into his wallet transactions reveals that five of these were gifts. One of the DeadFellaz NFTs was a gift from rombrandt.eht, a Toronto-based oil painter. In fact, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to say that ROMbrandt was the one to discover Wood’s wallet, after the actor purchased an ENS name for his video production company SpectreVision.
After ROMbrandt revealed Wood’s wallet, fans started transferring NFTs as gifts. Consequently, the actor now owns BROBOT #0991 and Sewer Rat 3704.
Elijah Wood pushes DeadFellaz activity
While DeadFellaz #9821 might have been a gift, Elijah Wood purchased two more NFTs from the collection. Since his involvement with the collection became public, DeadFellaz has seen a steady increase in activity according to DappRadar data.
Additionally, the floor price for a DeadFellaz NFT has gone up again and is now 1.4 ETH. Prior to the announcement activity was heading towards a downward trend. However, Elijah Woods’ endorsement, even if a bit questionable, had a positive effect.
Celebrities have an enormous reach simply by having their name associated with a brand. The same applies to NFT collections. A celebrity endorsement is always a good sign, and more often than not, collectors interpret it as a buy signal.
DappRadar will continue monitoring both Elijah Wood’s wallet activity and the DeadFellaz NFT collection following this announcement. If you’re curious to find out more about the Lord Of The Rings actor, and other celebrities that have joined the NFT craze, check out the links below.
