A mysterious new collector enters the stage spending $4.7million on 4 punks
While most media talk is about Bored Apes, CryptoPunks continues to dominate the charts as the premier bluechip NFT collection. Last week 6 punks sold for $1 million or more on the secondary market, adding to a total of $49.46 million in trading volume over the past 7 days.
CryptoPunks aren’t very liquid NFTs, and owners tend to hold on to them. Combine that with their status as ‘the first ever NFT collection’, and the assets gain value within the community. Last week we’ve only seen 94 CryptoPunks sold, of which 6 sold for more than $1 million. The most expensive one was punk #561, selling for $2.39 million.
However, most remarkable is the fact that one collector went the extra mile. A person nicknamed Kfox.eth acquired a total of over 4 punks, including #9129 and #810. They spent roughly $4.7 million to get their hands on these NFTs. These are also the first NFTs in that particular wallet, which also contains more than $1.1 million in Ethereum and considerable bags of SHIB, MANA, and YFI.
If this shows anything, it’s that collecting NFTs will always attract new people. Some of them will go for smaller investments, while others go for bluechip collections like CryptoPunks.
