Billboard commissions three NFTs to honor iconic female singers

World of Women founder and artist Yam Karkai has designed an exclusive series of three NFTs for the front cover of Billboard magazine.

Christina Aguilera graced the first of three Billboard magazine covers as a part of a series of NFT portraits for the publication’s Women in Music project. The February 28 issue featured the Dirrty singer and pop icon Madonna was on the cover for March 1. Read on to find out whose digital image adorns today’s copy.

The actual NFTs will be auctioned off on decentralized marketplace FTX later in March so keep an eye on their website and social media feeds for updates. A portion of the proceeds will benefit nonprofit organizations chosen by each of the cover stars. As an added bonus, Billboard will fly the buyers of the NFTs to Los Angeles for the magazine’s Women in Music 2023 event.

Today’s third and final front cover celebrating Women in Music features Mariah Carey. She’s a lady who needs no introduction but certainly isn’t new to the world of blockchain.

World of Women

Yam Karkai co-founded World of Women in July 2021 with the aim of helping women to enter the blockchain and digital asset space. While women are increasingly becoming more active in the world of cryptos and NFTs, it’s well known that men still dominate this particular domain. Karkai and the World of Women team hope that by putting females at the front and center of NFT projects, it will show all women and girls that there is room for them as well.

Since the World of Women project began, it’s gone from strength to strength. Karkai’s original collection of 10,000 minted NFTs were originally sold for 0.07 ETH each. Today, they have a floor price of 9 ETH ($26,450) and an average selling price slightly higher than that. While the number of traders and sales have gone down over the past 30 days, we can see below that the collection market cap has gone up considerably.
