Axie Infinity Smashes Monthly Sales Numbers

Axie Infinity Smashes Monthly Sales Numbers

The play-to-earn giant recorded over 2 million sales in the past 30 days

All-time play-to-earn favorite Axie Infinity is solidifying its place at the top of DappRadar NFT Rankings. In the past 30 days alone, the Ronin-based game recorded 2.259.133 individual sales, making it the most traded collection. These trades were completed by 614.095 buyers and sellers, highlighting the scope of the Axie community.

Impressively, the most expensive sale in the past 30 days is for an Axie, rather than a piece of land. Axie #1369 switched owners for 70 WETH, or $280.850. The particular Axie has a rare Mystic ability and only one child, making it rather lucrative for breeding. Its low serial number highlights the fact that Axie #1369 is part of the Origin collection, a collection of Axies created during the first 2 months of Axie Infinity’s existence back in 2018. There are only 4088 Origin Axies, each having one or more Mystic body parts.

In the past seven days alone, Axie Infinity has generated more than $42.82 million in trading volume from upwards of 400.000 sales. This places the play-to-earn game at the top of both weekly and monthly NFT sales.

Axie Infinity beats competitors NBA Top Shots and Farmer’s World

Following behind Axie Infinity we have Flow-based NBA Top Shots and Wax-based Farmer’s World. NBA Top Shots managed to record an impressive 1,128,596 sales in the past thirty days, which is an increase by more than 26% compared with the month before. While this is a remarkable performance, it is nowhere near close to Axie Infinity, which has more than double that amount.

Farmer’s World completes the top 3 NFT collections for the month in terms of sales numbers. The Wax-based farming NFT game registered about a quarter of a million sold game assets in the past 30 days. Impressively, Farmer’s World NFTs generated more in trading volume than NBA Top Shots, despite recording significantly fewer sales.

Game-related NFTs top the charts

An important trend in weekly and monthly NFT sales is that game-related collections outperformed blue-chip ones by a mile. Traditionally we’re used to perceiving big PFP projects like CryptoPunks and BAYC as the leading NFT collections. However, analyzing the number of sales tells a different tale.

Of course, this shift occurs because game-related NFTs serve as in-game items that boost performance. Additionally, it is curious to see that the Ethereum blockchain loses its dominant position. The top three NFT collections in terms of sales for the past 30 days are all based on chains other than Ethereum. Ronin, Flow, and Wax all offer cheap or even free transactions. This gives users much more freedom to move their assets around.

DappRadar will continue monitoring the NFT space as more play-to-earn games incorporate NFTs as in-game assets. If you want to check out the most up-to-date NFT sales data check out DappRadar PRO.
