Time to kill? Check out some of the best blockchain games

During these strange times, we thought it would be nice to present 5 blockchain games worth checking out.

Blockchain games are seeing a rise to prominence in 2020 due to some key features not afforded to traditional games. The phrase ‘true ownership’ has been bandied around quite a lot, but what does that mean?

The introduction of NFTs or Non Fungible Tokens means that gamers now using blockchain games can actually own their in-game assets for real. Blockchain and NFTs allow them to store, trade, sell, and auction items when they are no longer required, or to make a profit.

When compared to traditional games, such as Fortnite. Where in-game assets are centrally owned by the game developers and users spend small fortunes. Players are fundamentally just renting assets. If the game were switched off – the players would lose everything.

With that explained it becomes clearer why blockchain technology can bring an exciting evolution to gaming.

Take some time to explore and play these five blockchain games.

1. Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is a game where you can breed (create new) and battle with your own army of cute Internet Monsters called Axies.

In Dec 2019, Axie introduced their new Community Alpha version of the game. It’s available for iOS, Android, PC & Mac. Axie presented users with the Small Love Potions ($SLP) and this is when the simple play-to-earn model was born.

Axies are fantasy creatures that inhabit Lunacia – an open-world owned, operated, and controlled by players. Lunacia is under attack! It’s up to you and your Axies to help the Princess fight off creatures called Chimera while rebuilding and strengthening the Kingdom.

2. Upland

How about virtually roaming San Francisco (and soon other regions) to discover real-world addresses you want to own. Once you are the proud and “true owner” (thanks to blockchain!), you’ll earn some UPX, the in-game cryptocurrency.

Want to make more? Well, you will have to work for that: Complete a collection of properties with the same characteristic and – boom – you’ll get a boost. Or go treasure hunting and punch some of those pinatas. Don’t need a property anymore? Flip it on the marketplace for UPX and – soon – for fiat currency.

3.MegaCryptoPolis

Dесеntrаlized is a city builder strategy game where players can explore a huge map with rivers, lakes, islands, parks, and resources.

Discover new districts, some of which may be available for sale. Being a district owner grants you revenue share from all the players’ activities within its blocks. Initially, all districts are being sold through auction so players can make a bid and if no one beats it within the next few days. The district is yours!

4. Blockchain Cuties

Blockchain Cuties is a collectible crypto game with adventures where you get to play with puppies, lizards, bear cubs, cats and other real and fantasy creatures alike.

Each cutie is unique and 100% belongs to you. You get to collect them, breed them, test their skills in battles, arm them and even level them up!

In-game economy lets you trade cuties using smart contracts on Ethereum, EOS, TRON and NEO blockchains. Each cutie is a non-fungible token that can be transferred or sold to other players. Just like a regular cryptocurrency.

5. Crypto Sword & Magic

Crypto Sword and Magic was the first blockbuster turn-based role-playing game on the EOS blockchain. All game assets are fully owned by users and transactions run on blockchain smart contracts.

Even if you are not playing, other people will play together and battle meaning that rewards are received based on your hero’s contribution. Users must strengthen and upgrade their equipment with a wide range of features! Stronger equipment improves the ability of the heroes.

Become the greatest hero in the world of Crypto Sword & Magic!
